Bilişim-Sen Founding Congress Call: The Human of the Future Takes Ownership of Their Future

To all our colleagues, comrades, and IT laborers who, at the keyboard, before the screen, in the plazas, at the work desks in their homes, or on the trail of field algorithms, weave the world of tomorrow stitch by stitch;

The Call for Union Democracy and Transparency we published laid an unshakable foundation for digital labor to find its own original voice in these lands: a completely open and auditable functioning in which the word, the authority, and the decision belong directly to the base—that is, to us. Now it is time to carry these transparent and participatory principles into the very middle of life, to give flesh and bone to our collective will. A Historic Decision Has Been Taken for the Bilişim-Sen General Assembly and a Great Call Has Been Made!

The schedule of our union's 1st Ordinary (Founding) Congress has been finalized. This congress is not merely a leadership election or a legal procedure; it is a festival of democracy where every single individual working in the IT sector comes side by side, stands shoulder to shoulder, turns loneliness into sharing and anxiety into shared hope. If the mind and labor that build the world of tomorrow are ours, then the right to determine how that future will be shaped is also ours.

The human of the future can secure their tomorrow only by resolutely taking ownership of their own union. Come, let us discuss both our problems and our solutions all together at this common podium.

1st Ordinary (Founding) Congress Schedule and Transportation Information

The official time and venue details of our great gathering, where we will decide our future together and take ownership of our union and our tomorrow, are as follows:

  • Date: Sunday, June 14, 2026
  • Time: 13:00
  • Place: Osmanağa Mahallesi, Halitağa Caddesi, Şadırvan Apartmanı, A Blok, No: 26/28, Daire: 4, Kadıköy / İstanbul

Important Legal Note (Attendance List): The Attendance List that forms the legal basis of our congress has been posted at the congress address indicated above. The list will remain posted throughout May 31 and June 1–2. It is important that all our members check the list for the security of their participation and the tracking of their rights.

Our Vital Realities: The Deepening Problems of the IT Sector

Although the IT sector looks glittering, comfortable, and completely independent from the outside, all of us personally experience every day the real, battering, and human problems behind the screens. It is impossible for us to solve these problems on our own, through individual bargaining; but when we come side by side, we possess a creative power capable of transforming them all:

  • Working Hours With Blurred Boundaries and Invisible Labor: Although "home-office" or "hybrid" work models appear to add flexibility to our lives, they have completely torn down the walls between work and private life. Slack or Teams notifications arriving at midnight, Jira tasks sent on the weekend, and the expectation of being "reachable at any moment" lead to chronic burnout. We demand that the boundaries of our right to rest be clearly drawn and that the "right to disconnect" be made a union standard.
  • Artificial Intelligence Anxiety and Digital Precarization: Generative AI models and autonomous agents are speeding up our work processes. But the technology monopolies use this enormous productivity gain not for the welfare of employees, but as a justification for mass layoffs (tech layoffs) and wage suppression. We are not afraid of technology; we are the mind that brings it into being. Our demand is clear: artificial intelligence should be used not to threaten us with our jobs, but to reduce our weekly working hours and offer all of us a more secure life.
  • Occupational Alienation and the Dispossession of Collective Production: The code we write day and night, the architectures we design, and the systems we optimize are locked away behind the rigid patent walls of companies. The value we produce is severed from social benefit and only enlarges the profit columns of a handful of holding companies. As IT workers, we must take ownership of our occupational dignity and defend that code and knowledge remain humanity's shared common heritage.
  • Social Isolation and Psychological Erosion: The physical loneliness brought by remote work is weakening peer-support (collegial solidarity) mechanisms in the workplace. When we encounter a problem, we try to solve it alone, staring at a single screen, growing isolated within illusions of corporate belonging. The union is the sole bridge of solidarity that will break precisely this isolation and connect us to one another with human and organic bonds.

Branch of Industry No. 10: We Are Tearing Down the Walls, We Are All in the Same House!

Our union completely rejects the artificial hierarchies, title races, and status divisions scattered throughout the IT sector. From the senior developer to the system administrator, from the QA (test) specialist to the data-labeling worker, from the call center employee to the digital content creator, from office staff to the couriers running in the field with platform algorithms—we are all inseparable parts of production, of labor, and of the future.

Branch of Industry No. 10 (Commerce, Office, Education, and Fine Arts) is, legally, the common meeting ground for all of us. Whatever our title at the company, whatever department we work in, or whatever programming language we use; this is where we will become members in order to protect our rights, amplify our voices, and create a humane working environment. Bilişim-Sen is not a vertical pyramid of management, but a horizontal shared living space in which each of us has an equal right to speak and to vote.

Our Differences Are Our Richness: A Culture of Acting Together

We are completely leaving behind the cumbersome union habits of the past, conducted behind closed doors and shutting the masses out. Taking ownership of our union means building it as the common home of the entire sector, beyond certain personal tendencies or narrow approaches.

  • We Focus on the Common Denominators That Unite Us: Each of us may come from different backgrounds, different worldviews, different technical ecosystems. This diversity is not our weakness but our greatest intellectual and social richness. Under the roof of Bilişim-Sen, we focus not on the small nuances that divide us, but on our demands for security, justice, transparency, and a humane life that make us equal at the same table.
  • An Inclusive and Positive Common Mind: In this union, no one is more privileged than another. We will take our decisions not through top-down orders or the backroom dealings of narrow teams, but in open forums, transparent assemblies, and with the direct participation of the base. At this general assembly, we will all together crown a constructive and encouraging culture of organizing in which no one feels excluded and everyone is invited to the table with their own color and their own idea.

You, Too, Must Be There to Take Ownership of Your Future!

Esteemed IT professionals, dear colleagues;

We, who produce the technologies of tomorrow today, possess the mind and the will to govern our own working conditions, our rights, and our union in the most just, transparent, and democratic way. Every moment you feel alone, every code delivery in which you think you have suffered injustice, every anxiety you feel about the future, turns into a step toward resolution when you come together with the colleague beside you.

Taking ownership of the union means taking ownership of your own labor, your own productivity, and your own tomorrow. Come, let us grow this march together.

Join the Bilişim-Sen Founding Congress, become a member, say your word, and shape our future with our common will!

Hope is ours, the mind is ours, the future is in our united arms.

See you on June 14 at that warm, constructive, and faithful great founding assembly in Kadıköy!

May our path be clear!
